It allows the operator to lower themselves on the working line, to position themselves on the working line and to ascend the same rope. It is ideal in the event of assisted lowering of two people with the device installed at the anchor (the operator lowers the rescuer and the person being rescued) or for simultaneous lowering of two people (rescuer lowers themselves with the injured person)... How it works?;
Adventure, open-air exercise, delightful scenery, fun and, above all, health! Nothing compares to a mountain hike on the highest peaks of the Romanian Carpathians. The Făgăraş Mountains with their rocky summits have always been a challenge for those who wish to climb the highest mountain peaks: The Moldoveanu Summit (2544 m), The Negoiu Summit (2535 m), the Laiţa, Vânătoarea lui Buteanu, Scara, Suru or Paltinu summits, all well above 2000 m. Another well-known attraction is the Transfăgărăşan, the 2300 m high road which connects the southern and northern sides of the Făgăraş. In the county of Sibiu, the Făgăraş Mountains (part of the Southern Carpathians) cover the central glacial sector of this group, bordered to the west by the Olt River and to the east by the Arpaş Valley. The Făgăraş trails will take you through breath-taking landscapes offered by the peaks as well as by the countless glacial lakes (Bâlea, Avrig, Podrăgel, Lacul Doamnei, Călţun), waterfalls (Negoiu, Şerbota, Bâlea, Valea Moaşei), the extremely rare fauna (marmots, chamois, deer, stags, wild cats, capercaillies) and the differentiated vegetation of the alpine floors (from deciduous forests to juniper and mountain pine shrubs, Leontopodium alpinum or Rhododendron kotschyi).

Our journey began more than 25 years ago. Its roots can be traced to the sandstone towers of Český ráj, which is refl ected in the name of our brand. Passion for climbing and the desire for continuous improvement led our fi rm from a small workshop to a company that gained the respect of climbers around the world.
In 1988 Pavel Hendrych, the brand‘s founder and a car designer, starts making climbing harnesses at home. He makes his fi rst models on his grandmother‘s sewing machine, dyeing straps in a large pot in the kitchen. His first source of material are decommissioned brake parachutes which he obtained during his military service with the Czechoslovak Air Force.
In 1994 Pavel visits his climbing friend Yevgeny Ovchinikov in the Rock Pillars area by the town of Krasnoyarsk in Siberia. He starts designing climbing shoes for the Rock Pillars company. Their first model is the Feather, sold in Europe under the Rock Pillars brand. In response to modern overhang climbing techniques, including heel-hook, Rock Pillars introduces a 4 mm sole extending over the heel. Salavat Rakhmetov‘s idea is used by most climbing shoe manufacturers to this day.
Our new brand OCÚN is launched alongside Rock Pillars at the OutDoor fair in 1998, with a new line of harnesses and an exciting new product – the crash pad. Only a few people anticipate that the crash pads will become an integral part of a new climbing style – bouldering.
The new Foam Tubes Suspension System brings improved impact energy absorption. The Dominator crash pad with the new FTS system awarded at the ISPO fair in 2011.
First introduction of our own line of carabiners, developed by our design and engineering team, was one year later.
Year 2013 - Our patented WeBee 3D foam technology brings significant improvements in breathability and other functional parameters of sit harnesses.
Our two brands – Rock Pillars and OCÚN – are merged into a single OCÚN brand. Combining the know-how, development and production will bring better service to our customers and better quality of our products.

Sinjal is the highest peak in Croatia and is located in Dinara mountains on the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia (Dinaric Alps). Its massif, 20 km long and almost 10 km wide, ascends as natural boundary wall between Dalmatia and Bosnia and separates like a wall two different worlds: mediterranean and continental. Its amazing several hundreds meters high southwest wall by its size attracts glances of everyone who finds himself at the foothill. Especial beauty at the same time provide abundant flowery meadows and forests. Climbing to the top of Dinara demands good shape because approaches are long, steep and difficult. Croatian mountaineering association with mountaineering clubs in Knin and Kijevo organizes every year collective ascent to its top.
The top can be reached from the village Glavaš. This ascent takes 4-5 hours. Above the village Glavaš there is an old picturesque tower, and at half way to the top hiking shelter Martinova košara is situated, arranged in former shepherd summer cottage. Since there are no water sources along the path, and it is exposed to the sunshine, one has to carry plentiful of water.

* We recommend accommodation in Knin town. Distance to Glavaš is about 32 km.

Lyofood’s history is strongly combined with its cooperation partner Lyovit - one of the major producers of freeze-dried herbs, fruits and vegetables with more than 20 years of experience on the market. To satisfy the needs of climbers, sailors, backpackers and other extreme sportsmen, Lyovit used its revolutionary technology and know-how to create the first freeze-dried meals in 1998. The product was named “Lyofood” and was warmly welcomed by outdoor athletes.
In 2013 our meals and fruits have been awarded with The Gold Outdoor Industry Award. This is one of the most important recognition in the industry and is awarded for exceptional product quality and particularly innovative design.
Why you should try Lyofood?
1. For our meals we only use 100% natural and fresh ingredients. We do not add any preservatives or artificial food-additives to our meals.
2. We pay attention not only to the freeze-drying process but also to the way of preparing our meals. We always choose high quality ingredients. Furthermore every meal is cooked - just as a normal dish is prepared - before it is freeze-dried. The result obtained is the real taste of homemade meal.
3. The freeze-drying process allows the maintaining of the original form and size of all ingredients. We take advantage of this and cut all ingredients into bite-sized pieces. Consequently our meals not only taste like a homemade dish, but they also look like one.
4. To make sure our meals are safe in every aspect, they are checked twice in the in-house laboratory. Once- after being cooked and for a second time- after the freeze-drying process.
5. Freeze-dried food has a very high calorie content. Moreover, it maintains all of the food’s natural vitamins and minerals. The consumption of our meals allows you to generate long-lasting physical peak performance.
6. During the freeze-drying process 98% of the moisture content is being removed, which results in significantly reduced weight. Our meals are light-weight and compactly packed. Our meals can be stored for years. Since the water content is being removed during the freeze-drying process, microorganisms and enzymes action are inhibited. Each pouch is hermetically sealed and contains an oxygen absorber.

There are several mountain peaks in this area, the highest of which is on the Norwegian side. It is called Ráisduottarháldi, which is a Sami name, and rises to a height of 1,361 m above sea. Finland’s highest peak, Halti, is situated nearby and reaches 1,328 m above sea level
Halti attracts a lot of hikers, being the highest in Finland, and the main hiking trail runs from Kilpisjarvi in Finland. This hike normally takes several days with overnight stays on huts along the way. A much shorter alternative, is to reach Halti from the Norwegian side (Birtavarre).
Hiking from Kilpisjärvi (in Finland) to Halti is also a popular option. This hike is 55 km long, of which part forms part of the Arctic Trail.

The Coffeebrewer is an amazing and tasty treat that can be enjoyed at home, when travelling, at work, at university, on holidays, when you are outdoor etc. All it takes is a bit of hot water. The idea with the Teabrewer is to offer FREEDOM to enjoy a gourmet tea experience regardless of place and situation. The Teabrewer is an amazing and tasty treat that can be enjoyed at home, when travelling, at work, at university, on holiday, when you are outdoor etc. Said in other words: The perfect ZEN-moment during a busy day!
The “black mountain” rises 3,798 m above a sea of three hundred 3,000 m peaks surrounding it. The view from its summit falls on the high alpine scenery all around, which was shaped millions of years ago by elemental forces and hasn’t stopped since. Legend has it that a pitch-black crystal that concentrates the mountain’s energy – alluring, awe-inspiring and therapeutic at the same time – is hidden inside the Glockner. The greenstone core is surrounded by a mantle of schistous rock that gives the Glockner its black colour. The Grossglockner is upstream to the south of the main chain of the Alps located in the heart of Europe. Moreover, it is the centre of Austria’s largest national park and bears the weight of 180 km² of glacial ice on its shoulders.

It’s said that snowshoes were invented over 10,000 years ago as an ingenious aid to moving around and hunting. An instinctive way of effectively distributing body weight on snow. At the time, snowshoes were made of a wooden frames tied together by leather straps or animal skins.
It was not until 1981, when TSL was founded in the heart of the Alps, in Thônes (France), that the product underwent its first major revolution. TSL took its inspiration from a wooden snowshoe and manufactured it in plastic. The JCB, the first model to be used for recreation and sporting purposes, was born. During the 90s, TSL developed and marketed the 225 RANDO, the first snowshoe with an articulating binding that combined comfort, technical design and firm foot support. Its unique hourglass shape offered walking comfort and became the recognisable footprint for all the brand’s composite snowshoes. It was an immediate success and is still the most widely sold model in the world.
As a result of TSL’s enthusiasm and constant improvements (Step-In, Up & Down System, heel lifts, etc.) enabling users to walk on all types of terrain, TSL snowshoes travelled beyond France and were exported as far as Japan and other European countries. Supported by the brand, a European snowshoe racing cup competition was set up, along with a large number of marked trails.
2013. A year to remember. Escape into nature, freedom and the exploration of magnificent scenery are the very essence of the sport. But ever since the snowshoe was first created, man has had to adapt his stride to the structure and shape of the product and this has distanced him from nature. TSL OUTDOOR shakes up the rules to offer the first model of a future generation of snowshoes that offers unrivalled advantages. We have designed and developed a snowshoe that adapts to the user’s stride and to the terrain in which he is walking. We have carefully designed the various contact points, flexibility, lightness and grip in such a way that the walker rediscovers his natural stride as he walks over the snow. We have used advanced technology to give life to this snowshoe. After more than 10,000 years, winter walkers are AT LAST in total symbiosis with nature. Which is why we have called this model TSL SYMBIOZ.

The great Rila Mountains are probably the most famous alpine range in Bulgaria. Not only because of their beauty and scale – they are the highest in the country and on the Balkan Peninsula – but also because of their special charm, fed by legends and stories about them. These start with the Tracian origins of the mountain’s name (Rila – well-watered mountain), following are the stories about the first ascent of the peak point of Musala by Philip of Macedon during 2nd century BC – an expedition that took 7 days. Also the unclear theories about the appearance of the name “Musala” – it is considered that the name of the highest peak of the mountains comes from Arabic and means “Close to God”.
If you want reach the summit, the best starting point is the ski resort of Borovets.

The extreme mountaineer and Mammut Pro Team athlete Dani Arnold has used the long summer to master two multi-pitch routes climbing free solo and in record time.
The Outwell story begins in 1995, when Henrik Arens saw a gap in the market and massive potential in offering high-quality family tents and family camping equipment at reasonable prices. Outwell initially comprised a small collection of innovative and thoroughly tried-and-tested tents and a compact range of accessories to cover the needs of campers as they enjoyed the outdoor life on camp sites across Europe. The concept was successful from the outset. The idea that you could buy everything for family camping from a single brand appealed strongly to retailers and end-users alike. They were also secure in the knowledge that these high-quality products had clever features which made it even easier to create something intrinsic to successful camping: those unforgettable moments! Since spring 1995, Outwell has never looked back. Outwell is now the leading family camping brand and it is sold in more than 45 countries across the globe. Innovation and product quality are given highest priority - every day! We have state-of-the-art rain and wind testing equipment. Our tent collection comprises more than 60 different tents and our range of accessories now includes about 600 products so we are now a real one-stop shopping brand for every family dreaming of relaxing and unforgettable camping holidays.
Product development is one of our core competences and our market-leading features are often copied but never bettered. Down the years, we have created an impressive list of inventions, including: Luminous guylines, Tent carpets, Rain safe door, Outwell Extended Frame System, Outwell Space Frame System, Outwell Universal inner cabin, Kid's room, Game set, Dry Zip System, Outwell Easy Pegging System, Outwell Wind Stabilizer System, Floating Guyline System, Tinted windows
Find your favourite Outwell products on our web pages - we offer tents, sleeping bags, thermo bottles and other camping equipment.

Black Diamond initiates comprehensive quality audit of recently repatriated Salt Lake City factory.
Salt Lake City, Utah (April 13, 2016) - Black Diamond Equipment, Ltd., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is voluntarily issuing a recall, subject to user inspection, of Easy Rider and Iron Cruiser Via Ferrata Lanyard sets because of the possibility of defects in the stitching that could cause the lanyard to fail, potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
This recall concerns the Easy Rider Via Ferrata Set (style number 620105) and the Iron Cruiser Via Ferrata Set (style number 620110) manufactured between October 26, 2015 and January 18, 2016, with manufacturing codes between 5293 and 5350. Iron Cruiser Via Ferrata Packages (style number 620122) are also affected.
In a very small number of via ferrata lanyards, the security stitching (three orange bar tacks that attach the carabiners to the lanyards) may not be present, which would result in immediate failure of the lanyard under body weight.
No accidents have been reported; however, in the interest of customer safety, Black Diamond has decided to voluntarily issue a recall, subject to user inspection.
To find the manufacturing code, unzip the energy-absorption system pouch and find the 4-digit manufacturing code on the backside of the small tag inside.
If your via ferrata lanyard sets match the above criteria, examine the area where the webbing attaches to the carabiner. Be sure to check both arms.
In some Index Ascenders, the rivet attaching the toothed cam to the ascender body may not be properly finished. This could cause the cam to become detached, allowing the ascender to disconnect from the rope. There is also the potential that the rivet attaching the plastic safety catch to the cam may not be properly finished, increasing the likelihood that the ascender could become detached from the rope.
This recall concerns both the right (style number 620003) and left (style number 620004) versions of the Index Ascenders manufactured between December 22, 2014 and February 25, 2016, with manufacturing codes between 4356 and 6015.
To find the manufacturing code, look for the four-digit number inside the ascender next to the toothed cam.
In a very small percentage of Camalot™ and Camalot™ Ultralights, the axles connecting the cam lobes to the stem may not be properly riveted. This could cause the device’s strength to be compromised, and it could possibly come apart during use.
This recall concerns all sizes of Camalots™ (.3 to 6) produced between May 18, 2015 and March 9, 2016 with manufacturing codes between 5133 and 6067. This recall also concerns all sizes of Camalot™ Ultralights (.4 to #4) produced between November 10, 2015 and March 4, 2016, with manufacturing codes between 5309 and 6061. Indvidual style numbers of the different sizes are listed below.
The four- or five-digit manufacturing code is located on the bottom flat edge of one of the outside lobes of the Camalot™ or Camalot™ Ultralight.
If your Camalots™ match the above criteria, examine the side plates and the axle ends on both sides of the cam.
If your equipment (Easy Rider, Iron Cruiser, Index Ascenders, Camalot™ or Camalot™ Ultralights) failed the inspection procedures above, please follow the steps below to return them to Black Diamond and receive replacements. 1. Immediately stop using your equipment. 2. Click Here to submit a recall request. 3. Take note of your recall case number. A Black Diamond warranty representative will respond with the following information within two business days: * A return authorization number * An address for return * A free shipping label 4. Return the Camalots™ to Black Diamond. 5. Black Diamond will send you replacement equipment.

Since 1891 Joan Roca initiate the manufacture of braids to the current polyamide ropes capable of withstanding multiple falls of a climber or the actual harnesses, it has come a long journey of more than 100 years. We have passed, step by step, next to these sports that share the mountain as essence. This world is still has the passion that unites us.
* NEW TECHNOLOGY ENDURANCE
After years of research and development FIXE-ROCK has developed new technology for the manufacture of its ropes: ENDURANCE. The company has spent years researching how to further increase the performance and durability of our ropes. By conducting different studies, with multiple intervened variables as: types of twisted yarns, treatments, ... they were drawing conclusions on how these variables have a direct influence
on the final quality. Finally, we realized that using a thinner sheath ropes than in classical construction, coupled with the use of high quality yarns, gives the rope acquired greater abrasion resistance, decreasing the penetration and retention of water, dust and ice between filaments, thereby considerably increasing its performance. This technology has been named ENDURANCE. The ENDURANCE ropes are the ropes of high performance, much more resistant and durable. In addition, they are characterized by ease of use. This ropes much more pleasant to touch with increasing of its sliding on the working surfaces (carabiners, descenders ...). All this results in high performance ropes designed to meet the current needs of climbers.
* FULL DRY
Treatment that offers maximum protection against adverse weather conditions: ice, moisture, dust, ... in addition to considerably increase the lubricity and abrasion resistance. FULLDRY ropes prevent the moisture retention around the entire rope, so has the lowest weight gain by contact with water. This makes the FULL DRY ropes most appropriate for this type of activity which taking place in the most adverse conditions. This is achieved during the construction method where each of all filaments of the sheath behave both as the core are chemically treated at high temperatures. That is why all the strands of the rope are individually sealed to dust and water.
ADVANTAGES:
· High resistance to adverse conditions of dust, ice and moisture
· More low water absorption
· Improved gliding and ease of use
· Increased resistance to abrasion
· Quality Commitment FixeRoca
* NATURE
The NATURE ropes do not have any additional chemical treatment, which makes them most friendly to the environment. This ropes are the best for work in dry environments. This ropes along with other ranges are included within what we call: Quality Commitment FIXE-ROCK. FIXE-ROCK manufactures all its yarn ropes with the highest quality manufactured in Europe, this along with the experience of over 120 years ropes manufacturing, allows us to ensure all our ropes are made with the highest quality and reliability.
ADVANTAGES:
· Environmentally friendly construction method
· Excellent price / quality ratio
· Commitment to quality · FIXE-ROCA
* DRY
This treatment ensures the rope sheath will be impervious to moisture and dirt. In addition this treatment
increases the lubricity and abrasion resistance. This makes the ropes DRY best for humid and / or dusty environment. This is achieved during the construction method where each of all the strands that make up the sheath are chemically treated to high temperatures. That is why each strand is individually sealed to dust and water.
ADVANTAGES:
· Higher resistance to adverse conditions of dust and moisture
· Low water absorption
· Improved gliding and ease of use
· Increased resistance to abrasion
· Quality Commitment FIXE-ROCA
A top-class, ultra-lightweight climbing helmet! The very low weight is achieved by using an EPP (expanded polypropylene) shell and an absolutely minimalist adjustment system. In addition to the excellent cushioning properties of the EPP plastic, the helmet shell is also reinforced with a robust hard shell so as to guarantee maximum safety. To help climbers keep a cool head when solving the next crux section, the Wall Rider is equipped with numerous generous ventilation openings. The superb fit and the individually adjustable adjustment system ensure that the helmet sits perfectly on the head. There are also two clips and a elast strap to attach a headlamp securely to the helmet.
Petzl redesigned their crampon line, with new bindings, anti-bot plates and most importantly, modular compatibility. Petzl made it possible to take the front half of one type of crampon, such as the vertical front points of the Sarken, and replace it with the front half of a different crampon, like the horizontal points of the Irvis.
With this system, you can cruise up a glacier or snowfield with the better purchase of horizontal front points, then switch over to vertical front points, dual or mono, to crush that steep water-ice or mixed terrain of the upper headwall to the summit.

Salt Lake City, Utah (February 4, 2016) - Black Diamond Equipment, Ltd., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), voluntarily issued a recall, subject to user inspection, of carabiners/quickdraws because of the possibility of defects in the gate that could cause the carabiner to fail or function incorrectly.
This recall concerns carabiners/quickdraws with manufacturing codes between 4350 and 6018. The complete list of carabiners, quickdraws and harness, belay and rock protection packages concerned by the recall is below.
In some carabiners, the gate rivets (in solid gate carabiners) and wire ends (in wiregate carabiners) attaching the gate to the carabiner body may not be properly manufactured, potentially resulting in the gate becoming detached.
Additionally, in some screwgate carabiners, the locking sleeve may not have been correctly assembled, resulting in a locking carabiner that does not lock properly.
No accidents have been reported; however, in the interest of customer safety, Black Diamond has decided to voluntarily issue a recall, subject to user inspection.

Mammut stands for the quality, functionality and safety of its products. Customers can rely on their Mammut equipment in any situation, whether out on the ice or on the rock face. Meanwhile we aim for our products to leave the smallest possible ecological footprint.
Every item of functional (breathable) weather protection clothing has undergone a durable water-repellent (DWR) protective treatment, which provides the typical beading effect. The DWR treatment prevents the outer fabric layer from becoming saturated with water and can reduce vapor penetration by up to 80%. It also protects the material from contamination with dirt, grease (from the skin), oils and salts (dried sweat). It is therefore of central importance to the functionality and durability of weather protection clothing.
To ensure the high requirements of the functionality and durability of our products, we have in the past used long-chain fluorine compounds, known as C8 PFC chemicals, to treat our products. C8 chemicals established themselves as a highly effective and durable DWR treatment in the outdoor industry and their performance has been proven under the toughest conditions. A few years ago, scientific studies found that certain traces of impurities or degradation products of C8 chemicals exhibit toxicological properties (PFOAs and PFOSs) and are also persistent and bio-accumulative. These findings made the continued use of C8 unacceptable for Mammut and the outdoor industry, which is why their use has been completely stopped in a joint effort.
The to-date unsuccessful search for suitable alternatives began at the same time as the discovery of the negative effects of PFOAs and PFOSs on humans and the environment. In countless tests neither Mammut nor any other brand or scientific institution has yet been able to identify a commercially available PFC-free treatment that can ensure performance comparable to C8 chemicals.
A particular problem is the reduced durability of many alternative DWR treatments. They wear out faster, are far less able to be reactivated and allow the outer material to become saturated with water in less time than when impregnated with PFC. The result: Reduced comfort and a health risk through hypothermia. Furthermore, PFC-free DWRs often offer unsatisfactory protection - or no protection at all - from contamination of the material with dirt, grease, oils and salts, which quickly reduces the breathability of the treatment. As a result, clothing that uses alternative DWR treatments frequently has to be retreated or more regularly replaced, both of which in turn contribute to the environmental impact of a product.
The production of any product leaves an ecological footprint. This is influenced by a variety of factors. These include, among others, the choice of environmentally-friendly raw materials, the considerate use of resources, low-emission production and short transportation distances, as well as durability and the proper disposal of products. It is important for us, as manufacturers, to take all these factors into consideration and weigh them against each other in complex decision processes. For this purpose, when considering the whole product life cycle, durability stands out by far as the most important factor in reducing the ecological footprint. Buying a high-quality jacket which performs its function over a long period of time is more resource-efficient and more environmentally friendly than using one that needs to be often reimpregnated or replaced.
We are therefore convinced that: Quality and durability provide the greatest sustainability. That is why we are provisionally using a targeted and responsible durable short-chain and PFOA/PFOS-free form of PFC (known as C6 chemistry) as a substitute for C8 chemistry, and prefer it to these short-lived, less efficient and not necessarily environmentally-friendly alternatives. C6 chemistry achieves a good performance in terms of functionality and durability compared to C8 chemistry, but has a significantly better environmental profile than its longer-chain counterpart. For this reason, in our view, C6 chemistry currently provides the best combination of performance and environmental friendliness.
Targeted use:
We always question the use of PFCs critically and use them only when they are absolutely necessary. Our technical clothing must protect the wearer against extreme weather conditions when in use in high alpine conditions; this functionality must be retained even after repeated wear. In this way, last year, we were able to increase the volume of PFC-free materials used in our clothing from a total of 71% to 77% (in meters).
Responsible use:
We work only with those partners who can ensure the highest environmental standards in dealing with PFCs. For example, our long term partner W.L. Gore (GORE-TEX®), has decided to certify all their work according to ISO 14001, the internationally recognized environmental management standard. In addition, all Mammut suppliers that use PFCs have to successfully pass stringent bluesign® screening, in which they are required to use chemicals responsibly and the environmental impact they cause is tested, as well as their water and energy flows.
Since January 2011 we have been a bluesign® system partner and, as such, are committed to implementing the stringent bluesign® standard. This standard regulates in particular all relevant impurities occurring in PFCs with strict low limits.
We have switched from long-chain to short-chain PFOA/PFOS-free PFCs because they have a much better toxicological and ecological profile than their long-chain counterparts.
We provide our customers with information about the proper care and disposal of technical clothing, so that the functionality of our products is preserved as long as possible and, when disposed of, releases a minimum of pollutants in the environment.
Our care labels show whether a product is PFC-free.
We are pursuing the search for PFC-free alternatives and, working with competitors, specialists, fabric manufacturers, textile finishers and the textile chemicals industry, we are continuing to develop new technologies. Over the coming years our partner W.L. Gore will be investing 15 million euros in research into alternative technologies.

Just outside the town of Mouriès, France, in the small Alpilles Mountains, sits a legendary iconic route from the 1980s called, "Magie Blanche" (White Magic). This twenty-meter-high dead-vertical wall of 8b+ (5.14a) has little in common with the routes typically scaled by today's sport climbers. On October 16, the best among them took on the challenge. Here is the story of a truly unique encounter!
American rock climber Chris Sharma tests his skills on Magie blanche, a sport climb at Mouriès in France bolted by Marc Le Ménestrel and freed by Didier Raboutou back in 1989. At the time, this slab was hailed as one of the hardest climbs in the world.

DIRECTALPINE is your direct route to the top, a direct route to the goal, to the given purpose, to perfection, without any deviations, sidesteps and compromises.
Direct Alpine s.r.o. is currently a 100% Czech company with 100% Czech capital. More than 80% of models from the collection DIRECTALPINE are produced in Europe, especially in the Czech Republic. In the Production section you can find all the current information production of outdoor jackets, trousers, sweaters and pullovers of the brand DIRECTALPINE.
In terms of technology and development we are still growing. Our Swiss, German and Austrian customers in particular are delighted with the success of products with their customers, and the quality and service which we provide for the clothing. We have also established ourselves on world markets which are a little exotic for us, Japan and Korea. In 2012 we won another tender, this time for the delivery of clothing for professional members of the Mountain Service in the Czech Republic.
Our collection remain conceived primarily as a utilitarian one, with technical detailing and individual design. Much more so than in the case of previous collections it is evident at first sight that we are using the latest technology eliminating the possibility of product failure – for example, direct joining of individual parts without using conventional sewing, lamination of zips and pockets, laser cutting of reinforcements etc. The use of these cutting edge technologies ensuring greater functionality is most marked for the series Mountain Top in particular. We place ever greater emphasis on highly creative and modern design.
Thanks to the significant interest of end users in our interesting models, we can do away with compromise and stick to our strategy - to develop to the full expedient and practical products which comply perfectly with the relevant use. We gain unending inspiration and motivation for further innovations from cooperation with many leading sportsmen and top mountain climbers who test out the DIRECTALPINE clothing in practice.
We are essentially still a small family firm. The DIRECTALPINE collection does not have thousands of items in the catalogue, we do not manufacture hundreds of thousands of items, and we can't use brutal massive marketing on customers like multinational corporations do. However, we do focus on each product in detail. Even in this period of the globalised market we still present values which have always belonged to the outdoor – adventure, nature, purity, freedom, friendship. We wish to continue to offer you high-quality, reliable products, to contribute to the joy you feel from movement outdoors, in the mountains, on cliffs and in forests. During short trips to the country and the great adventurous expeditions of your dreams.
We are glad that the brand DIRECTALPINE is a constant companion for you too outdoors, in the mountains and in everyday life, and that it remains a symbol of comfort and functionality.

Ueli Steck soloed the Heckmair Route (ED2, 1800m, FA 1938) on the North Face of the Eiger in 2 hours 22 minutes and 50 seconds—beating his previous record by 25 minutes and Dani Arnold’s 2011 solo record* of 2 hours 28 minutes. When Steck uploaded the stats from his GPS watch, among time, distance, altitude and speed, it reported an average intensity of “moderate.” Ueli Steck is, the Swiss Machine.
“Now I know the difference between 2008 and 2015,” Steck tells his sponsor, Mountain Hardwear. “Today I had a good track, good conditions and I was pulling some gear that made it quite safe and I believe it makes much more sense this way."
Last year, during a slideshow at Nat. Geo. in Washington, D.C., Steck said his Annapurna solo was his last climb of that calibre—the new Ueli Steck, in his “old age,” would be a safer Ueli Steck.
In reference to breaking the Eiger speed record, for the third time, Steck says, “I didn‘t push myself as hard as in 2008. This makes this ascent a beautiful experience and a great day.
“Furthermore, it is a new record, but this was a result of the specific conditions. We can never compare ascents [on] a face like the Eiger. Conditions and weather are always different.
“But this is what makes alpinism interesting and unique. For me it is the personal challenge and your own experience that really matters.”
Not only did Steck set a new solo speed record, on November 11, he also claimed the Eiger North Face team speed record with Nicolas Hojac. They climbed the Heckmair Route and bested Roger Schaeli and Simon Gietl’s 2011 record of 4 hours 25 minutes with a time of 3 hours 46 minutes.

It is also important to remember that some technologies are unbeatable for obtaining the best possible mechanical characteristics: hot forging is emblematic in this case.
When Oskar Eckenstein, the famous inventor of crampons, stepped into the Grivel's smoky workshop in 'Les Forges' in Courmayeur in 1909 the family was already renowned among alpinists for the quality of their ice axes. The story goes that old Henry, controversial and always ready to take the mickey, used to convince even the most wary clients of the strength of his tools were by striking them on the huge block of granite outside his workshop. But where did this strength and above all this self confidence come from Precisely from the technique of hot drop forging, exactly the same that produced the blades of the Sword o Damascus and of Toledo, world famous for their superior strength.
Steel doesn't have the cold and uniform characteristics that we usually give it but is instead groups of molecular chains that line up and distribute themselves according to lines of force that create the strength of the piece of 'iron'. A bit like fibres in wood that we're used to seeing and choosing according to their natural formation to get the best possible stamina. The huge advantage of steel is that it can be shaped to how we want it when it is heated to 'cherry red' temperature (about 950'C). Mantice At this point it can be modified through being beaten to align its fibres according to the lines of force needed to obtain the maximum strength in the direction that we want: for example following the length of an ice axe's blade.
To summarise: the fibres in steel are internally aligned in a casual sequence, these can be re-aligned which ever direction we want when the steel is heated to a certain temperature and then 'ironed out' by beating it and forcing it into the desired alignment. This operation, followed up by heat treatment (what was once known as 'tempering' that fixed permanently the internal structure), is precisely known as 'hot forging'. It is how the best characteristics and the desired form are obtained from steel. No other process has ever, and ever will, better this one: quiz a specialist in metallurgy and he'll confirm it.

New - Tecnica Shoes in our offer!
1960 - Tecnica Spa was established in Montebelluna (Italy), right in the heart of the world's leading footwear manufacturing district, producing work shoes and mountain boots.
1970 - When skiing really took off as a sport in Italy, the company started making winter boots: in 1970, the Moon Boot was launched, inspired by the boots worn by the Apollo astronaut who first set foot on the moon. The Moon Boot soon became an essential piece of après-ski wear, with over twenty million pairs sold, making Tecnica the undisputed world leader in après-ski wear production. The first outdoor collection was launched around 1985 and this quickly became one of Tecnica's major market segments.
In 1993, Tecnica took over Lowa, a German company producing top-quality trekking boots and outdoor footwear. This was the first time an Italian company had taken over a German brand in this segment.
After taking over Dolomite, a well-known name in the mountaineering world with over one hundred years of experience and many glorious mountaineering achievements under its belt, including an expedition to climb K2, the Tecnica Group was established. Today, this group consists of the following brand names: Nordica, Dolomite, Rollerblade, Bladerunner, Moon Boot, Blizzard, Tecnica and Lowa.
A strategy of integration and diversification has made the Group extremely open and proactive, with products ranging from traditional ski boots and après-ski wear to in-line skates, sports equipment and clothing, as always emphasizing the innovation that has made our brand a winner.
As a result of the notable resources invested by the company in research and development, two group products have won the ISPO AWARD, prestigious recognition from the biggest winter sports fair in Europe; the Blizzard R-Power Full Suspension IQ ski in 2010, and the Tecnica Mach1 ski boot in 2014.

HANWAG is called after its founder Hans Wagner. At the company’s headquarters in Vierkirchen near Munich, it has been making top-quality alpine and trekking footwear since 1921. Right until the present day, we are pioneers of alpine footwear and make first-class shoes for outdoor enthusiasts of any type. Traditional craftsmanship, combined with sophisticated technical expertise, constant innovation and a passion for what we do are the cornerstones of our wide-ranging collection.
To put it in a nutshell: a perfect fit, robustness, durability and top-quality materials. All our products are made in Europe and some of our models in Germany even. This has been our approach since the company was founded over 90 years ago in Vierkirchen near Munich. Quality guaranteed.
HANWAG stands for innovation spawned by tradition. Since 1921 we’ve been combining top product quality with constant innovation. And in future these values will remain at the core of the HANWAG brand.
HANWAG is defined by: Fit, function, quality and craftsmanship
A perfect fit is pivotal to good footwear.
This has been HANWAG’s goal since founding the company in 1921. And we believe that regular feedback from customers and design awards from the industry demonstrate that we're getting it right.
The HANWAG fit is a virtually a legend in itself. Over nine decades of experience, superb craftsmanship, the best materials and sophisticated production techniques are the reasons why. The goal is to deliver function-rich, top-quality footwear.
We make almost all our footwear in Europe and hardly use any components that travel long distances. Around 30 percent of our range of double-stitched and alpine boots is still made at our headquarters in Vierkirchen near Munich. Further exclusive production facilities are located in Croatia, Hungary and Rumania. These relatively short distances add up to a better carbon footprint.
The user’s stride has always had to adapt to the structure and shape of the snowshoe. But take a moment to imagine the opposite. Imagine that the snowshoe has to adapt to your foot, your stride and the terrain in which you are walking. Imagine that each step is unrestricted... Imagine lightness, grip and a totally natural foot movement during your winter walks... Imagine yourself quite simply in total symbiosis with nature. STOP! No need to imagine any more... The product now exists... Remember the name: TSL SYMBIOZ.
Never has a snowshoe offered such outstanding grip. Combined with the vertical blades, the stainless steel bidirectional crampons placed under the foot give incredible traction (uphill), excellent grip (downhill) and perfect drift control (incline). The flexible frame follows the shape of the terrain, provides superb stability and complete safety and avoids sudden sliding in powder snow.
* The front teeth provide maximum traction on steep slopes.
* The vertical blades provide superb traction and control on inclines or steep slopes in soft snow.
* 8 interchangeable stainless steel crampons, similar to mountaineering crampons, provide traction on all types ofsnow.
Comfortable and easy to put on as a result of their pre-adjustment feature that memorizes shoe size, the Symbioz’ telescopic bindings accentuate the foot movement provided by the frame. The Easy Ascent heel lift incorporated into the binding is activated by simple downward push from the pole. Also, during ascents, you won’t have any feeling of discomfort under your foot as your weight is spread across the whole of the binding heel.within the frame. The new Easy Ascent heel lift, built into the binding, is activated by simply pushing it with the pole.

Vyskúšali ste už Via ferraty? Via ferrata znamená v doslovnom preklade „železná cesta“. Ide o umelo zaistenú horolezeckú cestu v skale, ktorej prirodzený stupeň obtiažnosti zmierňujú železné rebríky, oceľové kramle a kolíky, istiace oceľové laná, reťaze a podobne.

A favourite with parents and kids alike: designed for that feeling of boundless freedom, also on longer hikes. The sporty Kid Comfort was the first ever TÜV and GS approved child carrier worldwide in 1996. Since then it has taken thousands of kids and parents on great excursions outdoors. Yet we never stand still and are constantly fine-tuning our products. Thus, our popular carrier has now gained in comfort and safety: the height and the width of the seat can be effortlessly adjusted – even with the child already seated. The kids can also themselves climb in and out of the seat via the side access. The new ergonomic, large chin pad provides maximum safety and stability in the ‘cabin’ front. When the child takes a nap and the head sinks forward it rests comfortably with optimum side support. The various pockets and compartments provide multiple storing options, while the back system can be easily adjusted to the wearer. The pivoting Vari Flex hip fins sit perfectly and diligently follow every movement and the Aircontact system saves energy and offers a snug, comfortable fit.
